With dwindling sea glass supplies I researched recycled glass options and found the perfect solution through FAIR TRADE, a system that ensures everyone along the supply chain receives fair wages, are treated with dignity and steps are taken to preserve the environment. I was thrilled to find Oklah, an artist in Ghana, Africa who gathers recycled bottles from around the world and crushes the glass by hand, with a rock. He learned the bead making trade from his father who learned from his father. I love the colors and the organic shapes of Oklah’s beads. Though he is in Africa, I am able to contact him with special requests and feel fortunate to have found him!
